After a cold, darks, long winter, Everyone is looking forward to the bright sun and warm temperatures that come with Spring. But once you get outside, you get a good look at what OLD MAN WINTER did to your home. Here is a short checklist of some of the areas of your home that should be checked...

1. Check for loose, leaky, and clogged gutters. Make sure there is proper drainage away from the home.

2. Low areas of your yard especially around your foundation should be filled and grading should be away from your foundation.

3. Do a visual and mechanical inspection and test of your outside faucets before turning them back on to ensure there are no damaged pipes that can cause damage to the inside of your home.

4. Inspect all wood trim and wood decks around the windows, doors, garage doors and for any signs of water damage. Try to replace all damaged wood before the spring showers cause more costly damage.

5. Check all concrete slabs for signs of cracking and movement. These cracks should be repaired with a concrete crack filler or silicone caulk.
